Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help businesses & organisations protect themselves against common online threats. Establish how secure your IT & Data network is with a Cyber Essentials audit. Identify and remedy gaps in your IT security before the Cyber Criminal do it for you. Both schemes will need to be renewed annually to ensure your IT still meets requirements.
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials protects your business against the most common internet based attacks. You’ll have to verify your IT meets the standards, then complete a questionnaire. If you get stuck or just don’t have the time, we offer a range of support packages.
Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials Plus involves the same questionnaire, but also includes on-site auditing and vulnerability assessments carried out by a certification body, such as Astec. See our Cyber Essentials Plus process for more information.

Astec's Cyber Essentials Fully Managed Process
Communication is everything. From our first interaction, you will receive a clear outline of the steps it will take to get your Cyber Essentials certification. Here’s a brief overview of the process.
Stage 1: On-Site Interview
One of our experienced and qualified consultants meets with you at your offices to understand your business and technology, and defines the scope of your Cyber Essentials process.
Stage 2: Technology Audit
Our trained technician will carry out an audit of your technology and produces a gap report to show what needs addressing for compliance. Different levels of audit and testing will apply for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
Stage 3: Closing the Gaps
Where needed, we will offer you solutions for any security gaps or work with your existing technology provider to advise them of the requirements.
Stage 4: Guided Questionnaire
With the gaps addressed, we supply you with a self-assessment questionnaire, but don’t worry, you’re not on your own when completing it! We will guide you through the questions and answers for a successful application.
Stage 5: Certification
With the application signed off by a director of the business, we submit your application. On successful completion, you will be awarded your Cyber Essentials certificate. You’ll also get the option to book with us again for your annual renewal and we’ll provide you with options for managing your security in the meantime along with any other recommendations.

What is the difference between Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications?
Cyber Essentials is obtained by completing a questionnaire about your company’s technology to verify that your IT is to the Cyber Essentials standard. Cyber Essentials Plus requires the same questionnaire, and a Certification Body, such as Astec, to do some on-site auditing and vulnerability assessments.
When does the Cyber Essentials certification expire?
Security risks are constantly changing and evolving, so both Cyber Essentials certifications will need to be renewed annually to be sure your IT remains secure and meets the Cyber Essentials standards.
How much does the Cyber Essentials certification cost?
The cost of the Cyber Essentials certification is £300. Our pricing includes the certification cost plus the support charge for one of our experienced ACE practitioners time.
How much does the Cyber Essentials Plus certification cost?
Cyber Essentials Plus does not have a standard price. The cost depends on factors such as number of devices, locations, employees and network complexity. Get in touch to get your obligation free quote.
How long will the process take?
The length of the process depends on an array of factors such as the amount of devices in your infrastructure, if you’re completing a Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification, and whether you have documentation on your IT already.
